I will finish my high school education (Abitur) in summer 2017. Directly after school I would like to start a voluntary year. I am an active and creative person; I like to make music and to dance. Since about one year, I am working in the church looking after children during choir session and working together with confirmands.
I would like to do a voluntary year to make experiences, to see something completely different.
I chose Africa as my destination a couple of years ago; it is a dream to see the environment in African countries, the different culture and lifestyle.
I plan to use my organisation skills to raise money for the long term after my work experience. I believe it is important to keep in touch with the organisation after my work experience year. I am also interested in educating and teaching, but also in learning. I would like to learn how daily life is working, how people in other cultures deal with issues and what life is like. Exchanging cultural beliefs will expand my horizons further.
Last year I had experiences as a volunteer worker in a small refugee camp - I worked with a family from Afghanistan. While building up a relationship with the family members I learned to value and respect unknown cultures: Spending time with their young daughter (2) I helped her become secure in her new and strange environment.
My aim for the work experience year is to help to change something, to improve the children chances in the future, empower people to fight for a better life. I would like to make a change for the long term.
